Technology Teacher Spark Academy | Heritage Community SCHEDULE Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Exempt position) Year-round academic calendar with two-week breaks between terms. NATURE & SCOPE Spark Academy is a co-ed, residential treatment program specializing in autism and neurodiversity. We offer a year-round, project-based learning curriculum in a co-teacher classroom that fosters confidence, creativity, and a love for learning. As an accredited special education school, we provide individualized support to help students thrive academically and personally-with students coming first and curriculum coming second.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and teach engaging, hands-on technology lessons and projects.
Adapt instruction to support students with level 1 autism and other neurodiversities. Create projects that build problem-solving, creativity, collaboration, and technical skills. Incorporate technology into cross-curricular and project-based learning experiences. Collaborate with the Special Education Coordinator to implement IEP goals and track student progress. Create a structured and supportive classroom environment that encourages participation and success. Partner with Residential Coaches, therapists, and other team members to support students' academic and social-emotional development. Encourage students to explore technology, develop confidence, and discover their individual strengths. Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and behavior. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-related activities. Supervise students during class and designated school activities to ensure their safety and well-being. Uphold Heritage's mission and values, modeling professionalism and ethical behavior.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Education, Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred. Teaching license or endorsement preferred, or willingness to obtain one. Experience with technology education, project-based learning, special education, or residential treatment is highly desirable. Experience working with neurodiverse students is a plus. Must be at least 20 years old. Strong communication and organizational skills. Comfortable learning and teaching a variety of technology tools and applications.
COMPETENCIES: Creative and adaptable approach to teaching.
Ability to engage neurodiverse students through hands-on and experiential learning. Strong problem-solving and technology skills. Ability to balance structure with flexibility. Patience and an even temperament when supporting students through frustration or emotional escalation. Strong relationship-building skills and a genuine desire to help students succeed.
