Project ManagerKENTECH Consulting Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee a high-trust, case-driven pre-employment background investigations program supporting public safety, security, and sworn hiring. This role is responsible for day-to-day program execution, investigator coordination, quality control, and client-ready deliverables. This is a project-based role with responsibility for keeping investigations on track, maintaining consistent standards, and ensuring accurate, timely submissions.

Key responsibilities include serving as the main point of contact for program coordination and day-to-day communication, receiving and logging new cases, tracking progress across all active investigations, maintaining the program schedule, owning report quality and consistency, reviewing work products for completeness, accuracy, and compliance before submission, coordinating with investigators and report writers to close gaps and resolve discrepancies, maintaining organized records, status reporting, and audit-ready documentation, ensuring secure handling of sensitive information and adherence to confidentiality expectations, and supporting onboarding, training coordination, and ongoing process improvement. What success looks like includes cases being assigned quickly, tracked cleanly, and delivered on time, reports meeting standards the first time with minimal rework, the team following consistent SOPs and using the same structure and documentation rules, and stakeholders getting clear, dependable updates without chasing information.
Requirements include: 5+ years managing pre-employment background investigations for law enforcement or public safety programs, strong working knowledge of POST standards and California Government Code 1031 and 1029 (as applicable to sworn hiring), proven experience managing a multi-investigator workflow with deadlines and quality requirements, strong writing and editing skills, high attention to detail, strong judgment, and calm execution under pressure, comfortable working with sensitive PII and enforcing confidentiality standards, and strong communication, able to coordinate across multiple stakeholders and drive follow-through.
Compensation: $45.00 - $55.00 per hour.
