About the Role:
The Company is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to provide legal advice on government contracts, cybersecurity, privacy, AI governance, and ethics and compliance. Responsibilities include advising on security requirements, incident response, data protection, AI-related legal issues, and international engagements. The role also involves drafting and negotiating technology, vendor, data-sharing, and other agreements; supporting the full lifecycle of government contracts; and managing agreement intake and review processes. The successful candidate will also help develop policies, training, templates, and procedures, and may support internal investigations and real estate matters. Candidates must have a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school, at least eight years of experience practicing law—including four years in a law firm—and be an active member in good standing of a state bar, licensed in Virginia or eligible for corporate counsel registration. Required qualifications include experience advising on information security and privacy laws, familiarity with legal and regulatory issues related to AI, and demonstrated contract drafting and negotiation skills. Strong communication, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment are essential. Experience with federal contracting requirements, cybersecurity frameworks, export controls, sanctions, ethics investigations, or nonprofit governance is preferred.
