Role Description:
The Customer Service Clerk is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Chicago Area, serving residents and visitors of the Village of Indian Head Park. Day-to-day responsibilities include answering phone calls and in-person inquiries, providing information on village services, and responding to questions and concerns in a professional manner. The role involves processing forms, payments, and permits, maintaining accurate records, and updating databases and filing systems. The Customer Service Clerk will collaborate with other village departments, assist with mail distribution and document preparation, and support basic administrative tasks such as scheduling, photocopying, and data entry. This position contributes to a positive experience for community members by ensuring timely, courteous, and effective service.
Qualifications:
Strong Customer Service and Customer Support skills, with a focus on Customer Satisfaction.
Excellent Interpersonal Skills and Communication abilities, both verbal and written.
Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, record-keeping, and handling payments.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize workload, and work calmly under pressure.
Comfort interacting with diverse community members and maintaining a respectful, inclusive approach.
Proficiency with basic office software (e.g., email, word processing, spreadsheets) and office equipment.
Prior experience in a clerk, front-desk, or customer-facing role in a municipal or public-service environment is beneficial.
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework or training in office administration or customer service is a plus.
