SUMMARY:
This position provides clerical support to an assigned work unit within the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office (SLCSO). Employees perform a variety of routine clerical duties necessary for the efficient operation of the unit. Positions may be assigned to a large operating division performing a broad range of general office support tasks or to a smaller specialized unit requiring focused clerical functions. Employees receive initial instruction and close supervision during training. Upon gaining the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, work is performed under direct supervision with regular review for accuracy and adherence to established standards and procedures. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs general clerical duties including typing, filing, data entry, and completion of standard forms and documents. Operates standard office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, printers, and multi-line telephone systems. Answers and routes phone calls, takes and delivers messages, and provides information to callers as appropriate. Copies, sorts, and files records related to office activities, business transactions, and other documentation. Prepares letters, memos, reports, and forms according to written or verbal instructions. Sorts and distributes incoming mail; processes and prepares outgoing correspondence. Maintains filing systems both manually and electronically. Schedules appointments, manages calendars, and coordinates meetings as assigned. Performs other related duties as assigned. Subject to random drug testing.
Qualifications:

Supplemental InformationPHYSICAL DEMANDSWork is primarily sedentary, requiring light physical effort including occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 10 pounds. Tasks may involve extended periods at a computer or workstation. Manual dexterity is required for operating office equipment. Work is performed in typical office conditions with minimal exposure to environmental factors.
