About the role

American Traveler seeks a Surgical Technologist with Level 1 or 2 trauma experience for a hospital OR position in a high-volume 25-room surgical department.
Requirements:
  • BLS certification from AHA required
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience required
  • Level 1 or 2 trauma experience required
  • Prior travel assignment experience required (cannot be first-time traveler)VA state registration required at submission
  • License required if applicable
  • Neonate, pediatric, and trauma experience preferred
Responsibilities:
  • Hospital surgical department with 25 OR rooms handling 45-60 cases per day
  • Service lines include orthopedics (including total joints and OTT), general surgery, robotics, organ transplants (kidney), ENT, oral/maxillofacial, vascular/thoracic, urology, and pediatrics
  • Treats both adult and pediatric patients
  • Uses Epic EMRD8D12 shift schedule with night rotation and call requirements
  • Weekend requirement of Saturday or Sunday, typically 2-3 shifts per 6-week schedule
  • On weekends, facility runs 5-6 rooms with 4 rooms operating 24/7 and all urgent cases scheduled on SundayCall requirements of 3-4 weekday and 3-4 weekend shifts (4 hours) per 6-week schedule
  • Holiday and night rotation as needed by unit, with at least one holiday coverage required (one winter, one summer)
  • Floating to other ORs required when urgent need arises
  • Scrubs provided
  • Accepts local candidates at a lower pay rate50-mile radius rule applies for travel rate eligibility
  • Former permanent employees may return 12 months after their last shift worked
  • Not eligible for first-time travelers
