K-12 Academic Tutor – Education Nonprofit

City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide daily academic tutoring in core subjects to K–12 students Support classroom teachers through small-group and one-on-one instruction Mentor students to build positive relationships and strengthen social-emotional skills Track and report student progress using school and City Year tools Collaborate with diverse AmeriCorps and school teams to plan interventions Engage families and school staff to support student success Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development Tutoring in core subjects (math, ELA) Lesson reinforcement and homework help Small-group instruction Student progress monitoring Behavior management Data entry and basic reporting Google Workspace/Microsoft Office Communication with teachers and staff Time management and organization Basic youth mentoring techniques Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Ability to pass background checks required for working in K–12 schools Eligibility to serve as an AmeriCorps member (including citizenship/permanent residency requirements) Basic proficiency in core academic subjects (math and literacy)
