Classroom NurseThis posting is kept open throughout the school year for candidates that are interested in this position should openings become available. District 87 is home to one high school, one junior high, six elementary schools, and one early childhood school. We also have the Bloomington Area Career Center which provides career exploration opportunities to high school students at Bloomington High School and surrounding school districts. Please review the job descriptions in the bottom right-hand corner to gain an understanding of the expectations of the Nurse position. Substitute Nurses in District 87 are compensated in the following manner: Substitute Nurse (LPN, No ISBE license) $160.00 per day no benefits time worked up to a half day or less will be paid at $80/day time worked beyond a half day will be paid at $160/day Substitute Nurse (RN, No ISBE license) $185.00 per day no benefits time worked up to a half day or less will be paid at $92.50/day time worked beyond a half day will be paid at $185/day Substitute Specialist (Nurse with ISBE license) - Daily $220.00 no benefits time worked up to a half day or less will be paid at $107.50/day time worked beyond a half day will be paid at $215/day Substitute Specialist (Nurse with ISBE license) - Extended $215 - $240.31 per day no benefits Substitute Specialists expected to work a minimum of 10 consecutive work days in the same assignment - any break in service will restart the count of days. Days 1-10 are paid at $215/day, days 11+ are paid at $240.31/day If initial consecutive 10 days are not worked, the rate of pay will coincide with the Substitute Specialist Daily rate.
Qualifications: Illinois Licensure of LPN or RNMust have Illinois PEL through ISBE to be considered certified staff and covered under the collective bargaining agreement; individuals without this certification will be considered Professional/Supervisory staff and are not covered by the collective bargaining agreementCPR Certification 1 year minimum medical-surgical nursing, preferably a specialty area Reports ToBuilding principal or other designated supervisor Performance Responsibilities1. Assists school-based team by providing academic and functional support to student(s) with medical needs in the classroom setting 2. If the student(s) assigned to the Classroom Nurse's caseload is/are not in attendance on a given school day, this position will report to the school nurse and provide nursing-related services as directed by the school nurse.3. Able to independently assess, evaluate, and make decisions based on assessments and nursing judgment 4. Able to follow through independently with appropriate care as needed 5. Should have knowledge of and be able to perform (but not limited to):Medication administrationCPRG and J tube feedings with and without pumps Nebulizer treatments Vital signs SuctioningWound care/skin care Oxygen administration (basic ventilator use is helpful) Trach care CatheterizationOximetry/administration and evaluation Toileting/repositioning6. Knowledge of various seizures/assessment and care during seizure activity 7. Able to correctly maintain appropriate school health records, document assessments and duties appropriately 8. Able to communicate effectively with teacher, team members, school nurses and parents 9. Able to lift 20-150 lbs. with or without assistance
