The Village of Oswego, a fast-growing community of nearly 40,000 residents located 40 miles southwest of Chicago, is seeking an accomplished, forward-thinking leader to serve as its next Director of Public Works. This is a unique opportunity to guide one of Oswego’s largest and most impactful departments during an exciting period of growth, investment and long-range infrastructure planning. The Director will guide major infrastructure initiatives, including the transition to Lake Michigan water, improvements along the Wolfs Crossing corridor, the completion of a new Public Works facility and supporting continued community growth.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in public administration, civil engineering or related field 7+ years public works experience 5+ years supervisory experience Valid Illinois driver’s license
Preferred: Master’s degree in public or business administration
Compensation
Salary range:
$142,563-$213,866 (effective January 1, 2027); anticipated hiring range up to $185,000.Comprehensive insurance, IMRF participation, 457 plan, paid leave, professional development, vehicle and phone allowances. EOE.
