AI Engineer | $10B+ Consumer FinTech | NYC $170k–$300k Base + Bonus + Equity New York City | 5 Days Onsite I'm partnering with a $10B+ consumer fintech platform that's rethinking how people earn rewards and interact with the places they live, shop and spend. What started by rewarding people on their biggest expense, rent, has evolved into an ecosystem spanning payments, credit, dining, travel, fitness, retail, homeownership, and local commerce, serving millions of members. They're now making a major investment in AI, building intelligent agents that can do far more than answer questions. Think booking restaurants, managing payments, helping customers navigate financial products and taking real actions on behalf of consumers and businesses. Their AI assistant is already live across web, mobile, SMS, iMessage and email, handling tens of thousands of conversations every day. They're looking for an AI Engineer to help take this to the next level.
The Opportunity:
- This role isn't purely focused on LLMs or experimentation. It's a chance to combine backend engineering with applied AI to build intelligent products at scale.
- You'll join a lean, high-performing engineering team with end-to-end ownership of what we build and ship.
- What you'll work on: Building and extending AI agents that can take real-world actions across payments, commerce, and customer experiences.
- Developing agentic workflows, RAG systems, tool calling and multi-agent orchestration.
- Designing scalable backend services and integrating AI capabilities into complex existing products.
- Improving LLM performance, reliability, evaluation frameworks and latency at scale.
- Building intelligent experiences used by millions of consumers, with the freedom to influence technical and product decisions.
- Who I'm Looking For
- Strong backend engineering fundamentals, ideally with Python and exposure to Java or Go.
- Hands-on experience building LLM-powered applications, AI agents or RAG systems.
- Experience with frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, FastAPI or similar.
- Engineers who have owned products or features end-to-end, ideally within startups or high-growth environments.
- Someone equally excited about building AI capabilities and solving the complex backend engineering challenges that make them work.
- You don't need to have spent your entire career in AI. They're particularly interested in engineers with strong backend backgrounds who've developed real applied AI experience.
