Remote: United States | Full-Time | 3–5 Years of Experience
About CI Group Creative Intelligence Group (CI Group) is a growth and strategy consulting firm serving companies across the electric utility, energy, engineering, infrastructure, data center and technology sectors. We work with organizations ranging from established engineering and professional services firms to innovative technology companies modernizing the electric grid. Our team helps clients grow through strategy, marketing, positioning, proposals, business development, communications, and commercial execution. We are a small, entrepreneurial team. Our people work directly with senior leaders, move quickly across different projects and clients, and have the opportunity to make a visible impact.
The Role:
CI Group is looking for a Marketing Associate with approximately 3–5 years of professional experience to support marketing initiatives for both CI Group and our clients.
We are looking for more than a strong marketing executor.
The right person is an excellent writer, strategic thinker, curious researcher, and resourceful problem-solver who is comfortable being handed an objective without always being given a step-by-step process for getting there.
You should be someone who naturally asks: “How can I figure this out?”You’ll work across content, digital marketing, thought leadership, proposals, research, campaigns, events, client initiatives, and emerging technology. The work changes frequently, so you should enjoy learning new businesses, industries, technologies, and tools.
Experience in the electric utility, power and energy, engineering/AEC, infrastructure, or energy technology sectors is strongly preferred.
What You’ll Do:
Create compelling B2B content including LinkedIn thought leadership, articles, email campaigns, case studies, presentations, website copy, newsletters, and other client communications. Support and execute marketing initiatives across digital, email, social media, events, websites, CRM, marketing automation, and other channels. Research and solve business problems by analyzing markets, utilities, competitors, prospective clients, technologies, and industry trends and turning that information into useful insights and recommendations. Support proposals and business development, including RFQs, RFPs, qualification packages, presentations, project descriptions, executive bios, and reusable marketing content. Manage multiple client and internal projects from concept through execution, coordinating priorities, deadlines, stakeholders, and deliverables. Use AI-powered tools strategically to improve the quality, speed, and effectiveness of research, content creation, workflow automation, project management, audio and video production, data analysis, and other business applications. AI Fluency Matters HereAI is already embedded in how CI Group works. We are looking for someone who is fluent in AI-powered tools and platforms spanning content creation, research, workflow automation, project management, audio and video production, data analysis, and other business applications. More importantly, we want someone who understands how to leverage AI for optimal performance and efficiency. That means knowing how to structure a problem, provide the right context, iterate on outputs, evaluate accuracy, recognize weak or generic results, conduct additional research when needed, and turn AI-assisted work into something that is genuinely useful. We don’t expect you to know every platform. We do expect you to be curious about what is possible, willing to experiment, and continually looking for smarter ways to work. AI should accelerate good thinking—not replace it.
What We’re Looking For:
- Approximately 3–5 years of professional marketing experience, preferably in B2B, professional services, engineering, energy, technology, or another complex industry.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills with the ability to make technical or complex ideas clear and compelling.
- A strategic and analytical mindset with demonstrated ability to research unfamiliar topics, work through ambiguity, and develop a thoughtful path forward.
- Strong fluency with AI-powered business tools and the ability to use emerging technology effectively across different types of work.
- Excellent project management, organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- A high degree of ownership, judgment, curiosity, and resourcefulness—you know when to ask questions and when to go find the answer.
- Industry Experience
- Experience within the utility and energy ecosystem is strongly preferred, including experience with organizations such as:
- Electric utilities
- Engineering and AEC firms
- Energy technology or grid modernization companies
- Utility vendors, manufacturers, or contractors
- Infrastructure companies
- Consulting or professional services firms serving the energy industry
- You do not need to be an engineer or technical expert. You do need to be interested in learning technical subject matter and becoming comfortable communicating with executives, engineers, utility professionals, and other industry leaders.
- Additional Experience We’d Love to SeeExperience with some combination of:
- Executive thought leadership and LinkedIn content
- HubSpot or other CRM and marketing automation platforms
- Proposal, RFQ, or RFP development
- Professional services or AEC marketing
- Canva, Adobe, or similar creative tools
- PowerPoint and presentation development
- Website CMS platforms
- Email marketing
- Conferences, events, and trade shows
- Marketing analytics and reportingAI-enabled workflows and automation
- You don't need to check every box. We care more about your ability to learn quickly, think strategically, and produce excellent work.
- How We WorkCI Group operates differently from a traditional corporate marketing department.
- Our team is small, collaborative, entrepreneurial, and highly accountable. You may be working with an engineering firm one day and an emerging grid technology company the next.
- There won't always be a playbook.
We value people who can understand the objective, gather the information they need, use the tools available to them, develop options, and bring forward a recommendation.“Figure it out” is part of our culture—but so is collaboration. We don't expect people to work without support. We expect them to be resourceful enough to move things forward.
We value:
Strategic thinking. Curiosity. Resourcefulness. Great communication. Good judgment. Ownership. Technology fluency. Attention to detail. Reliability. And people who genuinely enjoy learning.
Why CI Group?
This role offers exposure that is difficult to get inside a traditional single-company marketing department.
You’ll work across multiple companies, technologies, business models, and marketing challenges while developing deep expertise in the rapidly changing electric utility and energy industry.
You'll also work in an environment where AI and emerging technology are actively changing how we research, create, analyze, and operate—and you'll have room to experiment with better ways of getting work done.
For someone who is intellectually curious, writes exceptionally well, enjoys solving problems, embraces technology, and wants to see the impact of their work, this role offers significant opportunity to grow.
