Senior Application Engineer

Salary: Up to $180,000 + bonus Location: Remote, USA | Travel required Industry: Distributed Energy / Microgrids / Data Center Power The Opportunity We are working with an established energy technology company that is growing its distributed energy and data center business. They are looking for a Senior Applications Engineer to develop power solutions for some of the largest data center operators and hyperscalers in the US. The role is focused on microgrids and behind-the-meter power, combining distributed generation, battery storage, switchgear, power electronics and controls to solve complex customer power requirements. With data centers requiring more power, faster, this team is working on projects where traditional grid infrastructure alone isn't always enough.

What You'll Be Doing: Develop microgrid and behind-the-meter power solutions for hyperscalers, data centers and other large power users. Integrate distributed generation, BESS, switchgear, controls and electrical infrastructure. Take customer load requirements, site constraints and resiliency needs and turn them into workable system designs. Support projects involving islanding, black start and grid-forming capabilities. Complete and review short-circuit, protection and coordination studies. Work directly with customers, EPCs, consultants, utilities and technology partners. Develop standard system designs that can be adapted for individual customer projects. Support projects from early customer conversations through design and delivery.

What We're Looking For: We're looking for someone with experience in microgrids, distributed energy, stationary power or utility-connected power systems. Experience across some of the following would be useful: Microgrids / distributed energy Behind-the-meter power BESS Distributed generation Switchgear and electrical distribution Utility interconnection Protection and coordination EMS / microgrid controls ETAP or similar software Islanded / grid-forming systems IEEE 1547 / UL 1741 / NEC / NFPA Data centers or mission-critical facilities You don't need to have worked with every technology above. The key is experience working with complete power systems and integrating multiple technologies together. Why Consider It? The big attraction is the scale of the projects.
