Hospital Dietary Clerk

Encompass Health is seeking a Nutrition Service Clerk to support Food & Beverage Operations within our inpatient rehabilitation hospital. In this role, you will assist with patient meal selection, tray assembly, and delivery according to prescribed diets, ensuring safety, sanitation, and accuracy. You will communicate with nurses and dietitians to accommodate dietary restrictions, update menu orders in the diet office system, and respond to patient requests with courtesy and efficiency. Assist patients with menu selections based on prescribed diets and preferences Assemble, deliver, and retrieve patient meal trays accurately and on time Verify diets and allergens against physician and dietitian orders Maintain food safety and sanitation standards in all work areas Operate diet office or menu management systems to update orders Communicate with nurses and dietitians about patient diet changes Respond promptly and courteously to patient meal-related requests Stock, label, and rotate food and supplies following safety guidelines Follow infection control, HACCP, and hospital policies Support a clean, safe, and patient-centered nutrition services environment Healthcare food service operations Dietary software or electronic diet office systems Understanding of therapeutic and modified diets Food safety and sanitation practices Tray line assembly and portioning Patient and customer service Basic nutrition terminology Meal ordering and menu management Time management and multitasking Communication with clinical staff Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k ServSafe Food Handler or equivalent food safety certification (preferred) Previous experience in healthcare food service (preferred)
