About the role

We're looking for a Software Engineer, Forward Deployed to lead the integration, deployment, and validation of Oureon's autonomy software across diverse partner and customer platforms. You'll operate at the intersection of software engineering, systems integration, and real-world testing — ensuring our autonomy stack performs seamlessly in production environments. You'll integrate with partner systems, validate end-to-end functionality, and close the loop between development, deployment, and operational feedback.
What You'll Be Doing:
  • Deploy and integrate Oureon's autonomy software onto partner and customer platforms
  • Build and maintain SDKs, APIs, and integration tooling to accelerate external adoption
  • Validate end-to-end system performance — backend, frontend, data pipelines, and autonomy orchestration
  • Design and execute system-level testing frameworks to ensure stability, scalability, and correctness in live environments
  • Collaborate with partner engineering teams to diagnose, debug, and resolve integration issues in real time
  • Profile and optimize distributed components for performance and reliability under real-world conditions
  • Feed operational findings directly into core software design and architecture decisions
  • Work closely with internal engineering and product teams to improve developer experience and integration workflows
  • Technical Requirements
Required Strong software engineering background in RustProven experience integrating and deploying complex distributed systems or data-driven applications Hands-on familiarity with Redis, NATS JetStream, and PostgreSQLExperience with WebSocket or other bi-directional communication systems Deep understanding of integration testing, system validation, and deployment automation Comfort debugging across network boundaries, APIs, and multiple software layers Strong communication skills for partner-facing technical work and cross-functional collaboration PreferredExperience deploying software to robotics, mobility, or aerospace platforms Familiarity with hardware abstraction layers, simulation environments, or mission control systems Understanding of observability tooling, telemetry, and system monitoring Background in real-time or event-driven architectures Familiarity with containerization and cloud orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)Our Stack Language RustData Layer Messaging & StreamingNATS JetStreamInfrastructureWebSocket-based messaging, containerized microservices Testing & Validation End-to-end integration testing, system simulation, performance benchmarking
What We're Looking For: We want an engineer who can bridge the gap between software and the systems it runs on — someone who can translate architecture into operational reliability. This is a deployment-focused engineering role, not a support function: you'll represent Oureon on the ground, ensuring our autonomy software is rock-solid on partner platforms. You'll thrive in this role if you: Excel in ambiguous, technical, and fast-moving environments Can independently deploy and debug complex distributed software systems Communicate clearly across engineering, operations, and partner organizations Care deeply about system robustness, scale, and real-world reliability Want to shape how autonomy software is deployed and validated in the field Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance: 100% of premiums covered for employees, 80% for dependents
Compensation: Competitive salary with performance-based bonuses
Equity: Stock options offering real ownership in what you're building
Retirement: 401(k) plan
Insurance: Life, short-term, and long-term disability coverage
Perks: Free daily lunch and dinner, with snacks and drinks stocked in the office
