About SuttonSutton is an AI native operating system for growing companies. Manufacturers, distributors and other operations heavy businesses run inventory, production, sales orders, purchasing and warehousing on Sutton, and many also run custom apps we build with them in days, not months. Those apps are the reason customers love us. Sutton Studio is where anyone can build on top of the platform. You describe an app, dashboard or workflow in plain English, and it is built on live operational data, with Sutton's security and permissions underneath. We have raised $6.3M from leading venture investors, and our customers run real operations on Sutton at scale, from national cookie chains to a public real estate company with more than 18,000 apartments, a top US research university and precision machine shops. The work you ship here has an impact you can see. We are a small team with big ownership, and we move fast: the distance between a customer's problem and something live in their hands is measured in days.
The role:
We are hiring a full stack engineer who can build and run almost anything. You will work directly with our Founding Engineer and our founders. There are no separate front end, back end or lead roles here. We are a flat group of strong generalists, and everyone owns what they build, from the first line of code to production. The work spans our core product, the apps we build with customers, and the platform that keeps all of it fast and safe.
What you will do:
You will pick up whatever matters most that week, and the mix will change. Our stack is Node.js, GraphQL and Postgres with a React front end, and we use Claude Code and Cursor every day. Typical work:
- Ship features end to end across a Node.js and GraphQL API, Postgres and a React front end, with AI assisted coding as a daily habit
- Build the platform behind Studio and customer built apps: scoped per customer tokens, a permissions model where each app declares what it touches, server side validation and audit logging tagged by app
- Own reliability for a multi tenant production system: monitoring, alerting, backups and restores, incident response and safe rollbacks
- Build resilient integrations with accounting and commerce systems such as QuickBooks, NetSuite and Shopify, with retries, idempotency and an alert when a sync stops
- Extend our API and MCP server so AI assistants and apps can safely read and write operational data like inventory, production and orders
- Work on real world features: barcode scanning, label printing and streams of machine sensor data
- Turn customer feedback into product improvements, shipped in days instead of months
- Who we are looking for
We are looking for driven builders who understand the business problem behind the code. You think in systems, move quickly, and use AI to multiply your own output. You do not need to be an expert in every layer or fit a single profile. What matters is that you are strong across the stack and committed to creating a customer outcome, with an open mind about how to get there.
You can design a GraphQL schema, fix a slow Postgres query and debug a React state issue in the same afternoon
You have built multi tenant SaaS and care about tenant isolation, safe migrations and per customer configuration
You have run production systems largely on your own, and you know how to monitor, back up, roll back and recover them
You have solid security fundamentals: authentication and authorization, scoped tokens, secrets handling and audit trails
You are comfortable reading vendor API docs and building integrations that hold up: OAuth, webhooks, rate limits, retries and idempotency
You work AI native every day with Claude Code or similar, and have opinions on the tests, CI checks and review that make AI written code safe to ship
You own outcomes: you talk to the people who use what you build, act without being asked, do what it takes to figure things out, and explain tradeoffs clearly to non engineers
Bonus points for experience with ERP, inventory or accounting systems, Cloudflare Workers, SOC 2, or hardware like scanners and sensors.
How we work
Speed and trust are not a tradeoff here, and everyone is expected to ship.
Speed is a feature. We ship small, ship often and learn from customers.
Build fast, run safe. We build on a platform that makes the safe way the easy way.
Everyone ships. Every role puts something real in front of a customer or teammate every week.
Small team, big ownership. You own outcomes, not tasks.
Candor with care. We say the hard thing early, directly and kindly.
Why SuttonYou will shape an AI native ERP that customers run real operations on every day, from national cookie chains to a public real estate company and a top research university.
Help define the product and its architecture, not inherit a pile of tickets
