CNC Operator Exterior Panels & CladdingJob Summary: The CNC Operator is responsible for setting up and operating CNC equipment to fabricate exterior architectural panels and cladding systems. This includes precision cutting, drilling, routing, and shaping of materials such as aluminum composite panels (ACP), sheet metal, and other faade materials to meet project specifications and aesthetic standards. Gypsums Systems, LLC panel shop is located in South Buffalo, NY.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate CNC routers, milling machines, or cutting tables for faade panel productionInterpret architectural drawings, shop drawings, and CAD/CAM filesProcess materials including aluminum composite panels (ACP), aluminum sheet, stainless steel, and other cladding productsPerform cutting, grooving (V-grooving for bends), drilling, and engraving operationsEnsure panels meet exact dimensions, edge quality, and finish requirements for exterior installationInspect finished components using measuring tools and visual quality standardsLoad/unload large sheets safely using lifts or team handlingPerform basic CNC programming edits or toolpath adjustments when neededMaintain tooling, spoil boards, and machine calibrationWork closely with fabrication, assembly, and installation teams to meet project timelinesFollow all safety procedures, especially when handling large-format materialsQualifications:
- High school diploma or GED; technical training preferred 2+ years CNC operating experience (router experience strongly preferred)
- Experience working with architectural panels, cladding, or sheet metal fabrication is highly desirableFamiliarity with CAD/CAM software (e.g., AutoCAD, Alphacam, or EnRoute is a plus)
- Skills & Competencies:
Strong attention to detail, especially for visible exterior finishesUnderstanding of material behavior (thermal expansion, surface protection, etc.) a plusAbility to work with large panels and maintain accuracy over long dimensionsProblem-solving and troubleshooting skillsTeam-oriented with good communicationPhysical Requirements:
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and handle large sheets (often with assistance or equipment)
Standing for long periodsComfortable working in a fabrication/shop environmentWork Environment:
Manufacturing/fabrication shop producing exterior building componentsExposure to noise, dust, sharp materials, and moving equipmentEmphasis on both precision and visual quality for finished architectural productsCompensation and benefit package includes:401k with employer contributionPTO(6) paid holidaysMedical InsurancePay will be commensurate with qualifications, skill level, and productivity level
