Sheet Metal Welder (TIG/MIG) Legacy Talent Search is currently seeking candidates for a Sheet Metal Welder (TIG/MIG) role in Portland, OR. Our client is a well-established industry leader known for precision craftsmanship, innovation, and delivering high-quality fabricated metal products. Key Responsibilities:
Perform TIG and MIG welding on sheet metal components according to blueprints, specifications, and quality standards.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly.
Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment, ensuring proper settings for various materials and thicknesses.
Fabricate, fit, and assemble sheet metal parts while maintaining tight tolerances and high-quality welds.
Inspect completed welds for structural integrity, appearance, and compliance with quality requirements.
Grind, finish, and prepare welded components as needed.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all OSHA and company safety procedures.
Work closely with team members, supervisors, and quality personnel to meet production schedules and customer expectations.
Report equipment issues, material shortages, or quality concerns promptly to management.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency.
Qualifications:
3+ years of TIG and MIG welding experience, preferably with sheet metal fabrication.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and technical drawings.
Experience working with stainless steel, aluminum, and mild steel is preferred.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce clean, consistent welds.
Ability to safely operate welding and fabrication equipment, hand tools, and measuring instruments.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand, bend, kneel, and work in a manufacturing environment throughout the shift.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Welding certifications are a plus but not required.
