CDL-B / OperatorR. J. Corman Railroad Company is seeking a CDL-B / Operator in Lexington, KY.
Responsibilities:
Operate specialized equipment. (i.e. Backhoe, Crew Truck, Excavator, Prentice Truck etc.) in support of inspection, installation, and maintenance of railroad track. Performs preventative maintenance on heavy or specialized equipment. Maintains proper equipment appearance and cleanliness. May perform labor duties as needed. Communicates with supervisor throughout the job process. Ensures working conditions are safe and that proper PPE is being used as job duties require. Follow DOT regulations; ensuring proper permits and driving regulations are followed.
Education and Experience:
Demonstrated operation experience and equipment knowledge. CDL-B License and demonstrated performance operating CDL-B required vehicles. Basic mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot simple mechanical failures. Previous experience in railroad construction or maintenance preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Able to perform physical strenuous work Able to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50lbs Requires occasional use of 30lb claw bar to remove spikes, requiring application of 50lbs of force Requires occasional use of 10lb sledge hammer to drive spikes, requiring application of 75lbs of force Able to walk, climb, and maintain balance on equipment, stairs, ladders, uneven terrain, rails and ballast in a safe manner Able to navigate into confined spaces if necessary Work is performed outside in varying types of environmental conditions. Job Dimensions: Interfaces with all levels of employees and management. Performs duties under general supervision with limited discretion. Does not directly supervise employees. This position pays into Railroad Retirement.
