Role purpose: This role leads Banner’s sourcing and acquisition of airline surplus inventory, rotable components, and used serviceable material (USM). The Head Buyer identifies purchasing opportunities that match our clients’ fleets and operational needs while protecting margins and generating strong returns on inventory investment. Geographic scope: North America Work setup: Hybrid at Hollywood, FL HQ or remote within North America; regular travel to suppliers, customers, and industry events your experienceRequired: 5+ years buying rotable or USM aircraft parts, including direct sourcing from aircraft teardown or dismantling facilities Established relationships with aircraft teardown facilities and USM suppliers Working knowledge of aircraft part traceability requirements and documentation, including FAA Form 8130-3, EASA Form 1, and back-to-birth records where applicable Familiarity with aircraft component condition coding, including NE, NS, OH, AR, and SV Strong negotiation skills with a demonstrated record of purchasing below prevailing market prices or at target acquisition prices that support profitable resale Ability to evaluate inventory packages, market demand, repair exposure, total acquisition costs, and expected return on investment Highly motivated and able to work independently, make sound commercial decisions, and move quickly on time-sensitive part-out opportunities responsibilities: Develop and maintain relationships with airlines, aircraft teardown facilities, dismantlers, MRO providers, and USM suppliers to gain early visibility into upcoming part-outs and available inventory Identify, evaluate, and negotiate purchases of airline surplus stock, inventory packages, and individual components based on customer demand, market value, and resale potential Purchasing & Valuation: Source landing gear, avionics, hydraulic and pneumatic components, wheels and brakes, flight control surfaces, and other repairable or reusable parts at competitive, margin-protecting prices Analyze purchase price, inspection and repair costs, freight, lead times, and resale potential to establish target purchase prices and expected profitability Review stock lists at the part-number level to identify high-demand components and account for slow-moving or obsolete material when valuing a purchase Quality & Commercial Structuring: Coordinate with Quality to assess part condition, traceability documentation, and repair history before committing to a purchase Negotiate favorable pricing and terms for outright purchases, consignment arrangements, and exchange transactions, including core return obligations where applicable Obtain repair and overhaul estimates from approved facilities and assess the commercial viability of acquiring unserviceable or as-removed components Alignment & Inventory Management: Work closely with Sales to understand customer fleets, recurring requirements, and anticipated demand, translating those insights into targeted buying priorities Monitor market pricing, availability, inventory aging, and sales performance to improve buying decisions and control exposure to slow-moving stock Maintain accurate sourcing pipelines, supplier information, cost estimates, and purchase records in Banner’s ERP system Coordinate with Sales, Quality, Finance, and Logistics to execute purchasing opportunities efficiently and within approved budgets and purchasing authority work conditions:
