Senior Tax Associate

Tax Senior | Grand Rapids, MIIf you're going to work extra hours during tax season, you might as well get something for them. That's the thinking at this firm, anyway. Anything over 40 hours during busy season can be taken as extra pay or additional PTO.And you get to decide which you'd prefer. I know that won't sound particularly groundbreaking, but having spoken to enough people in public accounting, I also know it's not something every firm offers. They're also pretty relaxed about how people work. They don't want to be checking up on you all day, and they're not interested in making everything more complicated than it needs to be. If you're good at your job, they'll trust you to get on with it. The firm is growing quite quickly, which is another reason I'm recruiting for them. There's room to progress, including to Partner if that's what you're aiming for. But if it isn't, that's absolutely fine. They're not expecting everyone to have the same career ambitions. What are they looking for? Someone with public accounting experience who can prepare and review tax returns. A CPA would be great, but they're not going to dismiss someone just because they haven't got one. That's pretty much it. Now, I'm not suggesting you should leave a job you're happy in just because another firm offers a few extra benefits. But perhaps you're doing the same hours every tax season and getting nothing extra for it. Or you've been wondering whether there's somewhere you'd have a bit more freedom, or a better chance of progressing. If that's the case, I'd be happy to tell you a bit more.
