The Manager develops strong, platform-specific content, turns organizational ideas and activities into engaging posts and videos, and drives audience growth, conversation, and action. The position reports to the Digital Communications Director and works closely with the broader communications, organizing, and campaign teams.

Create short-form, captioned, visually engaging videos optimized for each platform. Content Creation: Write sharp, compelling posts and develop graphics, carousels, clips, and other creative content that make complex political and election-reform issues accessible, timely, and shareable. Audience Growth and Engagement: Grow followers and reach, encourage meaningful conversation, respond to relevant audience interactions, and build an active community around Open Primaries’ mission. Campaign Execution: Develop and execute social media campaigns supporting Open Primaries’ legislative priorities, ballot initiatives, litigation-related public education, events, and broader independent voter engagement efforts. News and Rapid Response: Monitor relevant political developments, news cycles, and online conversations to identify opportunities for timely content, rapid response, and participation in broader public discussions. Analytics and Optimization: Track platform performance, video views and completion rates, engagement, audience growth, shares, and click-throughs. Use insights to refine content, test new approaches, and improve results. Cross-Team Collaboration: Work with the Digital Communications Director and other team members to coordinate social content with email, website, digital campaigns, and organizing initiatives. Collaborate with staff and spokespeople to identify stories, footage, and opportunities for content.
Qualifications: Demonstrated experience managing and growing social media accounts for an organization, nonprofit, advocacy group, media outlet, or political campaign. Strong video editing skills and a portfolio demonstrating the ability to turn raw footage into polished, engaging social content. Experience with tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, or equivalent software. Excellent writing, storytelling, and editorial judgment, with the ability to create strong hooks, compelling captions, and platform-appropriate content. Experience with LinkedIn, Instagram, X, Facebook, and YouTube, including an understanding of their distinct audiences, formats, and algorithms. A strong visual sensibility and experience producing or coordinating graphics and other social assets. Familiarity with social analytics, scheduling tools, and performance-driven content strategy. Creativity, initiative, speed, attention to detail, and the ability to respond to fast-moving news and competing priorities. Interest in democracy, elections, political reform, and Open Primaries’ mission.
