About the Role:
This is a hands-on senior engineering role supporting mission network infrastructure across both commercial cloud and physical environments. You will design, build, and harden the networks the customer depends on — standing up cloud VPCs and Linux-based network appliances, securing them to cyber standards, and keeping the whole environment operational when it matters most.
The work spans cloud architecture, Linux systems engineering, and traditional network hardware. Engineers who have lived in only one of those worlds tend to find the range here genuinely interesting.
What You Will Do:
Build and maintain VPC environments in commercial cloud (Google Cloud, Azure, AWS), including Linux virtual machines configured as network appliances such as routers and gateways.
Harden Linux operating systems in both cloud and physical environments to meet applicable cybersecurity standards.
Configure and harden network infrastructure — firewalls, switches, routers, intrusion prevention systems, and related gear.
Deploy and manage commercial VPN solutions.
Support commercial messaging applications and Android tablet devices in the field.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues independently, including outside standard business hours (see Schedule below).
Required Qualifications16+ yearsof professional network engineering experience.
Commercial cloud engineering. Demonstrated experience with at least one major provider (Google Cloud, Azure, or AWS), building out VPCs with Linux VMs, configuring them as network appliances, and locking them down to cybersecurity standards.
Linux hardening. Hands-on experience configuring and securing Linux operating systems in cloud and physical environments.
Network device configuration. Experience configuring and hardening firewalls, switches, routers, IPS, and similar infrastructure.
Commercial VPNs. Working expertise with commercial VPN technologies.
Commercial messaging applications (CMA)and Android tablet devices.
Independent troubleshooting. Proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues without direct supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience deploying CNGA internet network infrastructure, with a thorough understanding of the customer's mission.
Working knowledge of the customer's core appliances, services, and networks.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, information systems, network engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Location Chantilly, VA
Clearance An active TS/SCI FSP is required. Additional agency-specific requirements will be discussed during the interview process.
Schedule and On-CallThis position includes on-call responsibility. Engineers are expected to respond to and resolve issues after hours and on weekends as needed.
