About the Opportunity: My client, a fast-growing retail brand with a strong presence across New York City and an expanding footprint overseas, is looking to hire someone to build indirect tax from the ground up. This is a rare seat for someone who wants to create something and put their name on it, not maintain what someone else already built. This is a hands-on, individual contributor role, not a people-management seat, built for someone ready to own indirect tax end to end for the first time. If you're currently a senior associate or analyst with public accounting experience and you're ready to step into that kind of ownership, even without the manager title yet, this is exactly the kind of opportunity that makes that leap possible. Responsibilities: Build a multi-state indirect tax calendar from scratch, covering every filing deadline and remittance across the footprint Take new states through the full path from initial research to a live, filed process Serve as the internal point of contact for indirect tax questions from other departments Review and manage the output of the outside firm handling actual filings Spot exposure across jurisdictions early and bring solutions, not just problems Work independently as an individual contributor, owning outcomes directly with no direct reports Must-
