What you will be doing:
In this role, you will be part of the statewide Public Assistance Eligibility Team. Together, we will help Alaskan families, the elderly, and other individuals in need reach higher levels of independence and self-sufficiency by connecting them with the public assistance programs our agency offers. You will also have the opportunity to interact extensively with the public, being empathetic while explaining the need for information or determining benefits. The working environment you can expect: This position joins a statewide eligibility workflow team in local Public Assistance offices across the state. The work location is 10002 Glacier Hwy #200, Juneau, AK 99801.Who we are looking for: The ideal candidate will possess some or all of the following position-specific competencies in addition to the minimum qualifications listed below: Customer Service: Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside State government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Technical Competence: Uses knowledge that is acquired through formal training or extensive on-the-job experience to perform one's job; works with, understands, and evaluates technical information related to the job; advises others on technical issues. Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgement to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Eligibility Determinations: Knowledge of federal and/or state government or public assistance benefit regulations, policies, and procedures required to evaluate financial, personal, medical, and household information to determine program eligibility, authorize benefits, and maintain case records within mandatory timeframes.
