SIMON | Equipment Operator

Job Summary:Safely and efficiently operates a variety of heavy construction equipment to support heavy civil construction projects. This position is responsible for equipment operation, minor maintenance, and assisting crews to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements.Main Responsibilities:Embrace the Company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Simon Steering and Continuous Improvement teamsSupport, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policiesFollow all safety procedures, report unsafe conditions, and use tools, equipment, and materials properlyOperate a range of heavy construction equipment, which may include excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, scrapers, skid steers, backhoes, articulated trucks, rollers, and other mobile or stationary equipmentOperate additional tools and light equipment as required to support assigned construction tasksConduct pre? and post?operation inspections to ensure equipment is in safe operating conditionPerform routine and minor maintenance tasks, including fueling, greasing, checking fluids, and reporting mechanical issuesSafely operate company vehicles when authorized to travel between jobsites and company locationsAssist with maintaining clean, orderly, and safe jobsite conditionsWork closely with foremen, skilled craft workers, laborers, and other crew members to complete assigned projectsPerform manual labor and general construction tasks as needed to support project completionEducation:High school diploma or GED preferred, or equivalent construction experienceValid driver's license with the ability to maintain a clean driving record requiredOSHA or training preferred or ability to obtainSkills:Previous experience operating heavy construction equipment in a construction or industrial environment requiredKnowledge of safe equipment operation practices and jobsite safety requirementsAbility to read and understand safety rules, operating instructions, and equipment manualsAbility to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a teamStrong situational awareness and attention to detailAbility to follow directions, meet productivity expectations, and adapt to changing work conditionsBasic mechanical aptitude and ability to identify equipment issuesPhysical Requirements:Wears and maintains required PPE (personal protective equipment) to ensure safe performance of job responsibilities as requiredRegularly lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds with or without assistance to handle materials, tools, equipment, or documents essential to the roleRegularly uses hands to move and manipulate objects needed for tool use, equipment operation, and manual tasksRegularly communicates (talk and hear) to coordinate work, receive instructions, and maintain job?site safetyRegularly stands for extended periods and moves across various surfaces or terrain to access different work areas and complete assigned tasksRegularly climbs on and off equipment and walks across uneven terrain to navigate field sites safelyRegularly works from a seated position for extended periods to operate equipment and vehicles requiring continuous controlRegularly works near moving mechanical parts and experiences vibration from operating equipmentRegularly works outdoors in all weather conditions with possible exposure to dust and airborne particlesRegularly works near fuels, oils, and other common workplace chemicals associated with operating or supporting equipment and machineryRegularly works in environments that may include loud noise, moving equipment, dust, or varying indoor/outdoor conditions depending on operational needsFrequently stands, walks, sits, reaches, and stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls to access work areas and complete field tasksOccasionally works at heights, near, or under electrical hazards when tasks require elevated access or proximity to electrical componentsAbility to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and overtime; overnight travel may be requiredBenefits and Perks:Choice of 3 Medical Plan OptionsPrescription Drug CoverageDental and Vision PlansFlexible Spending Account or Health Savings OptionsAccess to Telemedicine and Healthcare Advocacy ServicesPaid Parental LeaveEmployee Assistance ProgramLife and AD&D InsuranceDisability InsurancePaid Time Off and Paid Holidays401(k) Savings Plan with Company MatchProduct and Service Group Discount ProgramsThe information contained herein is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of the duties and responsibilities of the job, nor are they intended to be an all-inclusive list of the skills and abilities required to do the job.
