Description:
Career Details: We are seeking a passionate Peer Support Specialist to connect and build supportive, pro-social relationships with participants in a jail setting that result in a personalized pathway to recovery, post-incarceration. Assist participants with establishing new social networks that support a lifestyle in recovery. Meet with participants frequently to assure that the transition from incarceration to the community has multiple layers of support. Provide continuous support until the participant feels comfortable with his new positive, peer network. Exercise a healthy level of empathy, compassion and understanding with all recovery participants.
Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years' experience working in a recovery setting with diverse populations.
Skills and Abilities
Computer Skills:
Proficient in all Microsoft office applications and skilled in operation of personal computer, peripheral equipment (e.g., copier, fax, printers).
