Orthodontic Dental Assistant

Sage Dental is seeking an Orthodontic Dental Assistant to support our growing orthodontic team within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you’ll assist the orthodontist chairside during exams, adjustments, and bonding procedures, take x-rays and impressions, maintain strict infection control, and educate patients on oral hygiene and appliance care. Working in a supportive, team-focused environment, you’ll collaborate with clinicians and staff to deliver exceptional, technology-driven orthodontic care and a positive experience for patients and families across our southern U.S. locations. Assist orthodontist chairside during exams, adjustments, and bonding procedures Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials following strict infection-control standards Take orthodontic records including x-rays, photos, impressions, and digital scans Educate patients and parents on oral hygiene, appliance care, and treatment progress Document treatment notes accurately in the electronic health record Support scheduling, patient flow, and follow-up appointments to ensure on-time visits Maintain inventory of orthodontic supplies and ensure equipment is properly maintained Collaborate with the dental team to deliver a positive, patient-focused experience Chairside assisting for orthodontic procedures Taking and processing dental radiographs Taking impressions and digital scans Placing and removing orthodontic archwires and ligatures per doctor direction Sterilization and infection control Orthodontic records taking (photos, models, scans) Electronic health record documentation Patient education on oral hygiene and appliance care Appointment scheduling and coordination Inventory and operatory preparation State-recognized Dental Assistant certification (where required) Orthodontic assisting certification (preferred, if applicable in state) Radiology/X-ray certification CPR/BLS certification Infection control and OSHA compliance training
