Data Engineer III

Overview In this Data Engineer role, you will help modernize NBME’s data platform on AWS, building scalable data solutions that support analytics, AI/ML, and data-driven decision making. You’ll work with a cross-functional team to design data architectures, ensure data quality and security, and deliver data products for internal staff and external customers. The role emphasizes data modeling, pipelines, and Data Ops practices to enable a high-impact data ecosystem. You’ll influence how NBME scales its data capabilities in a mission-driven, collaborative environment. This is a remote-friendly opportunity with optional onsite preparation near Philadelphia, and a focus on AI-assisted engineering to boost Compensation / Benefits Healthcare, Dental, Prescription, and Vision plans 401(k) with match Tuition Reimbursement Plan Commuter Benefit (Public Transit or Parking)Remote Friendly Workplace Onsite options near Philadelphia Responsibilities Participates in requirements gathering and architectures data systems in collaboration with subject matter experts and architects Contributes to agile scrum team delivery and ensures sprint commitments are met Trains and mentors teammates Manages multiple priorities and hard deadlines with independent work style Ensures data integrity and security across Data Services, Analytics, and Master Data Management Performs logical and physical data modeling in an agile context Builds automated, scalable, test-driven data pipelines Uses version control (Git), CI/CD, and release management practices Develops data products using visualization/BI tools and data science tools Collaborates with Data Engineers, Dev Ops, and architects on Data Ops improvements Supports digital transformation as a trusted partner Key requirements Expert in data modeling, database management, and profiling for DW, MDM, and BI solutions Strong analytical skills with structured and unstructured data Excellent communication with stakeholders Highly proficient in PL/SQLExperience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases (Oracle, MS SQL Server, HBase)Experience with data integration tools (Informatica, Boomi, Fivetran, MS Integration Services, Sqoop)Experience with cloud services (AWS, Google, Microsoft, Snowflake)Experience consuming and building APIsExperience with Python, Java, C++, Scala, etc. Experience with visual analytics tools (Qlik View, Tableau, Power BI, Micro Strategy)Experience with Agile development Experience with Singer and DBT is a plus Minimum 3 years of Data Engineering/ Data Warehousing Minimum 2 years Python Minimum 2 years data integration tool experience Minimum 1 year AWS services (S3, Redshift)Critical thinking Creative problem-solving Effective stakeholder communicationdata modeling and DW/MDMSQL/PLSQLNoSQL databases
