About the Role: The Assistant Mechanic plays a crucial role in supporting the maintenance and repair of a wide range of vehicle systems to ensure optimal performance and safety. This position involves working closely with senior mechanics to diagnose mechanical issues, perform routine maintenance, and assist in complex repairs on engines, electrical systems, and hydraulic components. The Assistant Mechanic contributes to maintaining the reliability and efficiency of vehicles by adhering to safety standards and using diagnostic tools effectively. This role requires a hands‑on approach to learning and applying technical skills in a fast‑paced environment, with a focus on continuous improvement and teamwork. Ultimately, the Assistant Mechanic helps minimize vehicle downtime and extends the lifespan of equipment through diligent maintenance and repair work.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Basic understanding of vehicle mechanical systems including engines, brakes, and electrical components. Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively. Valid driver's license. Willingness to learn and follow instructions from senior mechanics.
Preferred Qualifications: Completion of a vocational or technical training program in automotive technology or a related field. Previous experience working in a vehicle maintenance or repair environment. Familiarity with hydraulic systems and fuel system diagnostics. Certification in automotive service excellence (ASE) or equivalent. Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.

Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and system inspections under supervision. Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify mechanical and electrical faults accurately. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all tools and parts are properly stored and accounted for. Follow safety protocols and company procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
Skills: The required skills such as electrical systems, engine repair, hydraulics, brakes, suspension, hydraulic systems, fuel systems, alternators, and engine maintenance are applied daily to diagnose and repair vehicle issues efficiently. The Assistant Mechanic uses these skills to support senior mechanics in troubleshooting complex problems and performing preventative maintenance to avoid breakdowns. Proficiency in these areas ensures that the Assistant Mechanic can contribute to maintaining vehicle safety and performance standards.
