About the role

About the Company: One of our best clients is a specialty contractor that inspects, maintains and repairs the underwater side of hydroelectric plants and dams: intakes, trash racks, gates, penstocks and spillways. Based in the Southeastern United States, this company works for some of the largest hydro fleets in the Southeast and handles roughly 50 projects a year. They have retained 10th Street Talent to help them hire a Director of Strategic Partnerships to lead the next phase of growth.
About the Role: The selected Director of Strategic Partnerships can be based anywhere in the Southeast near customers. Charlotte, Atlanta, Knoxville, Birmingham, Chattanooga, Louisville, St. Louis, Memphis, or New Orleans all work. No relocation. You report to the CEO, who prices the work and closes it. Your bonus pays on doors opened with MSA's and RFPs.
Responsibilities: You build the target list, make the call plan, and execute the strategy. Manage two levels of buying that you already understand: the corporate master service agreement after supplier registration and prequalification through Avetta and ISNetworld, then the plant manager and outage planner who decide the bid list. Develop and manage relationships with roughly 10 to 15 priority hydro owners, with about 100 plant relationships underneath them. Work within a demand that runs on a federal calendar. Five-year inspection cycles, relicensing, multi-year rehab programs.
Qualifications: You know how a big hydro owner or utility makes buying decisions. That could have been learned inside a utility on the operating or the buying side, at an engineering firm that puts dam work out for bid, or from years of selling into these utilities.
Required Skills: Time in the approval chain. Walking a contractor through supplier registration and prequalification, or sponsoring a vendor from request to signed agreement. Dam credibility. Intakes, gates, penstocks, the five-year inspection cycle, outage planning. Adjacent generation or heavy-civil experience works if your hydro exposure is close. Safety performance on your own record, TRIR and OSHA recordables, or that same discipline carried over from another high-hazard environment. Willingness to travel.
Preferred Skills: Experience inside a utility on the operating or buying side, or at an engineering firm that puts dam work out for bid, or years of selling into these utilities. Pay range and compensation package
Compensation: Competitive base set on experience, plus a $30,000 to $50,000 milestone bonus paid on agreements executed and bid invitations received. For more information on this exciting role with a growing hydro contractor, apply today!
