POSITION SUMMARY:
Lead the direction and administration of Midwest Drywall Co., Inc.’s safety program across all U.S. operations and markets. Establish companywide standards, manage safety compliance and risk, and develop a geographically dispersed team of Safety Specialists. Reporting through People Operations, serve as the primary safety advisor to executive leadership and partner with Market Leaders, project managers, superintendents, foremen, and field personnel to embed safe work practices, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the employee‑owned organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategy and leadership: Set companywide safety standards, goals, and priorities; advise leaders on risk and recommend staffing, training, equipment, and other resources. Compliance and risk: Oversee applicable OSHA and federal, state, and local safety requirements; monitor changes and strengthen hazard identification and control processes. Field assurance: Lead jobsite audits, inspections, and compliance reviews across markets; assign corrective‑action owners and verify timely, effective closure. Training and engagement: Establish safety training requirements; coordinate orientations, toolbox talks, and leader development; evaluate understanding and field application. Incident response: Direct injury, incident, and near‑miss investigations, documentation, root‑cause analysis, and corrective actions; guide emergency response and share lessons learned. Programs and reporting: Maintain safety policies, procedures, records, and standardized reporting; analyze trends and provide regular executive updates and improvement recommendations. Project and subcontractor safety: Establish expectations for subcontractors and vendors; partner with project leadership on site‑specific requirements and higher‑risk activities. Culture and partnership: Coach leaders and field teams, visit jobsites, encourage open hazard reporting, and integrate safety into planning, production, and daily decisions. Follow Company policies and applicable requirements; perform other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead Safety Specialists across markets, assign priorities and coverage, coach and develop team members, and provide performance feedback. Partner with People Operations on hiring, staffing recommendations, and consistent performance management. Direct‑report assignments are determined by the approved organization structure.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Experience leading safety professionals and programs across multiple commercial construction projects or geographic markets; demonstrated success influencing field and executive leaders.
Required:
Practical experience with audits, inspections, incident investigations, root‑cause analysis, corrective actions, and development of safety policies and training programs.
Preferred:
Commercial drywall, metal framing, EIFS/plaster, ceilings, carpentry, or related specialty‑trade experience; leadership of a geographically dispersed safety team.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required:
At least seven years of progressive safety experience, including significant commercial construction experience.
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental health and safety, construction safety, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered. LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND TRAINING
Required:
OSHA 30‑hour Construction course completion and OSHA #510 construction standards training; OSHA #500 training with current Construction Outreach trainer authorization, maintained through required updates.

Current First Aid and CPR certification; valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively to Company locations and project sites.
Preferred:
Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or another relevant recognized safety credential. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESWorking knowledge of construction safety regulations and controls for jobsite hazards, including falls, ladders/scaffolds, elevated work, dust exposure, material handling, and powered equipment, as applicable. Strategic planning, practical risk‑based judgment, emergency decision‑making, and the ability to coach leaders and employees while building trust and accountability. Clear written and verbal communication, engaging facilitation, strong organization, and effective coordination across markets; bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, safety management software, digital inspections, data analysis, and dashboards that turn findings into actionable improvement plans.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work occurs in office settings and active indoor and outdoor construction environments across Company markets. Conditions may include dust, noise, weather exposure, moving equipment, and work at heights. Extensive travel, including overnight trips, and responsiveness to significant incidents are required. Follow site access, training, and PPE requirements.
SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Model compliance with Midwest Drywall safety policies, site‑specific rules, and applicable OSHA requirements; use required PPE and promptly report hazards, incidents, near misses, and injuries. Intervene and elevate immediately when work presents an imminent danger; coordinate suspension of unsafe work and verification of controls with operations leadership under Company procedures. Promote accurate, timely reporting and open communication without retaliation or pressure to conceal injuries, hazards, or near misses. PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
The following measures are proposed for the role; final targets and reporting cadence will be approved with People Operations and executive leadership. Program direction: Complete an initial assessment and prioritized improvement plan within the first 90 days, then maintain an approved annual safety plan. Risk reduction: Track inspections, critical findings, overdue actions, recurrence, and corrective‑action effectiveness against approved risk‑based deadlines. Training and capability: Track required training and credential completion, evaluate field application, and document coaching and development of Safety Specialists. Leadership reporting: Provide a monthly dashboard combining proactive measures with incident frequency/severity and root‑cause trends; recommend actions, owners, and resources. Culture and execution: Review progress with market and project leaders, reinforce consistent expectations, and encourage good‑faith reporting rather than relying only on injury counts.
