Staff Software Engineer

Overview As a Staff Software Engineer at Core Weave, you own the reliability and performance of a Kubernetes-based data platform across multi-region deployments. You design scalable infrastructure, optimize deployment pipelines, and strengthen security to meet stringent uptime and latency targets. You’ll work closely with the Platform & Infrastructure Engineering team to deliver production-ready systems from day one, guided by automation, observability, and resilience. Compensation / Benefits 100% paid medical, dental, and vision 401(k) with generous employer match Flexible PTOTuition reimbursement Employee stock purchase plan (ESPP)Parental leave Responsibilities Own reliability and performance of Kubernetes-based data platform Architect and operate highly available, multi-region systems Scale infrastructure and optimize deployment pipelines Strengthen security posture of data platforms Build, test, and manage scalable, production-ready systems Define incident response processes and SLIs/SLOs; manage error budgets Contribute to observability and performance tuning for distributed systems Key requirements 10+ years in Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or scalable distributed systems Experience with data platforms or data-intensive workloads (Spark, Airflow, Kafka, Flink)Deep Kubernetes expertise including design, operations, and troubleshooting Proven CI/CD track record (Argo CD, Git Hub Actions)Production ownership of mission-critical systems with high availability (99.99% uptime)Distributed systems development experience (databases, backend APIs)Multi-region, geo-redundant architectures and traffic routing Observability expertise (Prometheus, Grafana, Open Telemetry)IaC tooling (Helm, Terraform, Pulumi) and automated environment provisioning Performance tuning, capacity planning, and resource optimization Cloud-native security practices including secrets management and vulnerability scanning Curiosity about system resilience and security Ownership mindset and accountability Strong problem-solving and diagnostic abilities Spark, Airflow, Kafka, Flink Kubernetes cluster design and operations Argo CD and Git Hub Actions CI/CD
