Technical Writer
Location: Remote (Denver, CO)
Duration: 6+ Months Contract
Job Description: Client shall provide the funding necessary to support professional IT resources necessary to provide technical services in support of all divisions Technical writers, also called technical communicators, prepare instruction manuals, how-to guides, journal articles, and other supporting documents to communicate complex and technical information more easily. The primary role of this position is to develop process and procedure documentation for enterprise solutioning, SDLC and Cloud Operations Center of Excellence.
Responsibilities:
  • Writes, edits and packages a variety of technical documents, including proposals, articles, brochures, reports and manuals.
  • Relies on established guidelines and instructions to perform daily job functions.
  • Works under immediate supervision and usually reports to a supervisor.
  • Individual with demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining technical documentation, requirements analysis, business process models, architecture diagrams.
  • Exceptionally proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Visio. Is able to perform technical, research, and has solid analytical, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Individuals in this position may also possess other related skills, such as proficiency in the use of software team collaboration environments, such as IBM Rational Jazz or Microsoft's Team Architect.
  • May require a bachelor's degree in a related area and at least 2 years or equivalent experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Specific duties are as follows:
  • Organize material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
  • Maintain records and files of work and revisions.
  • Edit, standardize, or make changes to material prepared by other writers or establishment personnel.
  • Select photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material.
  • Interview production and engineering personnel and read journals and other material to become familiar with product technologies and production methods.
  • Develop or maintain online help documentation.
  • Assist in laying out material for publication.
  • Study drawings, specifications, mockups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedure, and production sequence and detail.
  • Arrange for typing, duplication, and distribution of material.
  • Observe production, developmental, and experimental activities to determine operating procedure and detail.
  • Review published materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction and binding.
  • Confer with customer representatives, vendors, or publishers to establish technical specifications and to determine subject material to be developed for publication.
