Retirement Benefits Analyst
Location: Bethesda, MD
Type: Direct HireWe are working with a well-established organization seeking a detail-oriented Retirement Benefits Analyst to join its Total Rewards team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong analytical background who enjoys working with data, reconciliations, compliance, and retirement plan administration. The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining retirement plan data accuracy, supporting audits, analyzing financial information, and ensuring retirement plan processes are completed accurately and on schedule.
Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and analyze data for retirement plan compliance testing and annual audits
  • Review retirement plan calculations and reconcile discrepancies with external recordkeepers
  • Perform recurring reconciliations between HRIS/payroll systems and retirement plan platforms
  • Review payroll transactions and retirement contributions for accuracy
  • Apply plan rules to employee data and perform detailed data validation and cleanup
  • Maintain accurate retirement plan information and system configurations within the HRISResearch discrepancies and provide documentation and responses during audit processes
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee retirement plan questions
  • Coordinate retirement plan education sessions and employee communications
  • Partner with HR, payroll, finance, and external vendors to resolve issues and maintain data integrity
  • Handle confidential employee and financial information with discretion
  • Manage multiple deadlines throughout the year, including audits, compliance testing, reconciliations, and year-end activities
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in an analytical, quantitative, finance, accounting, compensation, benefits, or related role
  • Strong data analysis, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Business Analytics, or a related field preferred
  • Preferred Experience
  • Experience administering 401(k) or defined contribution retirement plans
  • Knowledge of general investment concepts and ERISA/IRS retirement plan requirements
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems, particularly Workday
  • Experience working with retirement plan recordkeeping platforms
  • Experience supporting audits, compliance testing, or financial reconciliations
  • Professional certifications such as CEBS, QKA, SHRM-CP/SCP, or PHR/SPHR are a plus
