About the Role:
This position is ideal for a software engineer with a strong foundation in embedded firmware development, particularly C/C++, and hands-on experience working across hardware and software.
Please note:
This is a full-time, on-site position in Delray Beach, FL. Candidates must currently live within commuting distance of our Delray Beach office. Relocation assistance is not available. *Lumitec is unable to provide employment visa sponsorship for this position now or in the future, so candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
What You'll Do:
- Develop and maintain embedded firmware using C/C++Develop software for microcontrollers and resource-constrained embedded systems
- Work directly with hardware, including sensors, controllers, and other electronic components
- Debug hardware/software integration issues
- Work with communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, USB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth LE, and IP-based protocols
- Develop and maintain software unit tests
- Use Git for source control and collaborative development
- Use command-line tools and scripts for software builds and testing
- Work with CI/CD processes for building, testing, and deployment
- Contribute to software architecture, system design, and performance optimization
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
- Collaborate with engineering team members throughout the development process
- Additional Software Experience
- Experience in one or more of the following areas is a plus:
- HTML, CSS, and JavaScriptREST APIs and back-end development
- Database integration
- Mobile application development for iOS or AndroidUI, integration, and end-to-end testing tools such as Cypress
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field
- Hands-on professional experience developing embedded firmware using C/C++Experience working with microcontrollers or other resource-constrained devices
- Experience integrating and debugging hardware and software
- Experience with embedded communication protocols
- Understanding of software architecture and good software development practices
- Ability to troubleshoot technical problems independently
