About the role

Personal Trainer / Performance Coach — Where Strength, Science, and Longevity Meet Healthspan+ Montecito is seeking a Personal Trainer/Performance Coach to join our team. We're a physician-informed longevity and performance studio helping people build strength, improve movement, and maintain their health and independence as they age. Our members include busy professionals, executives, and active adults who are invested in their long-term health. They value individualized attention, thoughtful guidance, and a professional environment where they feel understood and supported. This isn't a traditional personal training position. Our approach combines advanced technology, performance assessments, and one-on-one coaching to help members understand their bodies and improve their strength, mobility, and overall well-being. If you're curious about human movement, exercise science, and the growing field of health and longevity, we'd like to meet you. What You'll Do: As part of our small, collaborative team, you'll: • Coach individual members using ARX adaptive resistance training, an innovative approach to strength development. • Guide members through Vasper sessions to support metabolic conditioning and recovery. • Assist with performance assessments, including DEXA body composition and bone density scans, VO₂ max testing, grip strength, balance, and functional movement evaluations. • Observe movement patterns, recognize potential limitations, and collaborate with our professional team to support individualized training. • Build trusting relationships with members through attentive coaching, clear communication, and consistent follow-through. • Help with daily studio operations, including scheduling, billing, and maintaining a welcoming, organized environment. You'll work alongside Dr. Jeremy Alvarez, DAT, ATC, our Sports Medicine Director. His expertise in human movement, biomechanics, injury prevention, and performance offers valuable opportunities for mentorship and professional growth. What Makes This Opportunity Different: At Healthspan+, training is personal, purposeful, and data-informed. • One-on-one coaching: You'll focus on individual members rather than managing large group classes. • Science-informed approach: Assessments help guide training decisions and track progress. • Professional mentorship: You'll learn from experienced professionals who value curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement. • No membership sales: Your focus is on coaching, member care, and contributing to the team. • Meaningful relationships: You'll help people build the strength and confidence to remain active and independent throughout their lives. Who We're Looking For: We believe attitude, curiosity, and how you treat people matter as much as what's on your resume. You'll likely enjoy working here if you: • Are genuinely interested in strength, movement, health, and longevity. • Enjoy learning how the human body works and why people move differently. • Believe that listening and observing are just as important as instructing. • Communicate clearly and connect comfortably with people of different ages and backgrounds. • Are dependable, prepared, detail-oriented, and professional. • Welcome feedback and enjoy learning new approaches. • Appreciate being part of a small team where everyone contributes. Above all, we're looking for someone who cares about people and takes pride in helping them make meaningful progress.
Qualifications: What You'll Need • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. • Ability to provide safe, attentive, individualized coaching. • A professional, dependable, and collaborative approach. • Willingness to learn new technologies and training methods. • Availability to work a schedule that may include Monday through Saturday. Helpful, But Not Required: • Education in exercise science, kinesiology, athletic training, or a related field. • Personal training certification or relevant coaching experience. • Experience in fitness, rehabilitation, sports performance, or wellness settings. • Interest in preventive health, healthy aging, and longevity. Recent graduates and early-career professionals are encouraged to apply. You don't need previous experience with ARX or Vasper. We'll provide training.
What We Offer: • Structured onboarding and hands-on training. • Mentorship from experienced professionals. • Experience with advanced strength-training and performance-assessment technologies. • A supportive, collaborative work environment. • Compensation based on qualifications and experience. • Opportunities for professional development and growth as Healthspan+ expands. Why Healthspan+? We believe strength, movement, and metabolic health play an essential role in maintaining independence and quality of life. Our work is about more than exercise. It's about helping people continue doing the things they love, with confidence and capability, throughout their lives. If that kind of work interests you, we'd welcome a conversation. How to Apply: Please send your resume and a brief introduction explaining what interests you about this opportunity to Paulette Davis, paulette@healthspanusa.com We look forward to learning more about you.
