About the role

The Midtown Group is urgently recruiting for a Field Services Engineer / IT Readiness & Deployment Coordinator consultant for a long-term contract role with a leading veterinary organization that is in the middle of rolling out a new PIMS (Practice Information Management System) to their 135 locations. This role will require heavy travel each week for the next ten months or so across Texas, Florida, the Midwest and the east coast of the US. Ideal candidates will have veterinary industry experience or medical center / hospital exposure and a strong track records of traveling and working with different offices and audiences. IT Readiness & Deployment Coordinator Primary Responsibilities Assess IT Readiness: Lead pre-implementation IT evaluations for hospitals, validating survey responses to identify technical gaps, infrastructure needs, and remediation requirements. Track & Resolve Issues: Maintain accurate readiness statuses (Ready, At Risk, Remediation Required) and collaborate across teams to resolve technical roadblocks before go-live. Project Management & Reporting: Monitor project timelines, track milestones, and manage risks in Smartsheet. Escalate threats to launch dates and provide regular status updates as the IT readiness lead. Documentation & Cost Tracking: Maintain precise records of hardware inventories, network configurations, readiness statuses, and project-related costs. Infrastructure & Device Management Evaluate Hardware & Networks: Assess the readiness of workstations, tablets, networks, Wi-Fi, and ISP/backup internet connections to ensure adequate coverage for new system workflows. Coordinate Equipment Procurement: Identify hardware shortages and oversee the procurement, staging, deployment, and testing of required equipment. Peripheral Setup & Troubleshooting: Validate, install, and troubleshoot critical peripherals, including label printers, scanners, and document printers. Data Migration & Integration Support Prepare Legacy Systems: Verify legacy Practice Management Systems (PIMS) accessibility, secure required credentials, configure remote access, and perform system backups ahead of data migration. Validate Third-Party Integrations: Ensure the readiness and compatibility of PACS, radiology systems, and other third-party integrations. Onsite & Go-Live Support Execute Onsite Deployments: Perform hands-on onsite assessments, inventory audits, hardware installations, and network or ISP upgrades. Provide Go-Live Support: Deliver technical assistance during launch, coordinate escalations, and troubleshoot post-implementation stabilization issues.
