Casting Call for Musicians

Job Description: A production filming in Syracuse, New York is casting experienced musicians and vocalists for a project set in 1972. The production is seeking performers who can authentically recreate the sound, style, and live-performance atmosphere of the early 1970s. Casting needs include a jazz trio, soul-inspired backup singers, and musicians for a soul band accompanying a featured solo vocalist. Individual performers are encouraged to submit, while established bands and musical groups may also apply together. This is a SAG-scale paid performance opportunity for musicians and singers comfortable bringing period-appropriate music and stage presence to a professional production.

Job Responsibilities: Perform on camera as a musician or vocalist in a production set in 1972. Help recreate an authentic early-1970s live music atmosphere. Perform as part of a jazz trio, backup vocal group, or soul band, depending on casting. Backup singers should deliver a sound and performance style suited to classic soul music. Soul band performers may play drums, guitar, horns, or other appropriate instruments. Accompany a solo vocalist when assigned to the soul band. Follow musical, performance, and production direction while filming. Collaborate professionally with fellow musicians, singers, cast, and crew.

Requirements: Seeking skilled musicians and singers with strong live-performance abilities. Jazz musicians, soul musicians, and backup vocalists are encouraged to submit. Existing bands, trios, and musical groups are welcome to apply together. Must be comfortable performing music appropriate for a 1972 period setting. Instrumentalists should be confident performing on their respective instruments. Must be able to work with the production in Syracuse, New York. Must be comfortable performing on camera and taking direction from the production team. Professionalism and reliability are required throughout filming. CompensationSAG scale.
