Sr Software Engineer II

Overview In this role you enable scalable, reliable software delivery within Amex Tech, leading a team of engineers and collaborating with product and business units. You will drive lifecycle oversight from inception to deployment, mentor junior engineers, and advance AI-enabled development practices. Compensation / Benefitsbonusbenefitshybrid workplace Responsibilities Supervise and mentor software engineers and cross-functional colleagues to support growth and best practices Provide technical leadership to junior engineers and foster continuous learning Lead end-to-end lifecycle of software applications from inception to deployment Oversee technical aspects of projects ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability Review code for quality and adherence to standards, offering constructive feedback Establish and enforce coding standards, methodologies, and best practices Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks for optimal app performance Facilitate collaboration with cross-functional teams to align with organizational goals Collaborate with product and business teams to align tech initiatives with business objectives Lead integration of AI-assisted development across SDLC and assess AI tools to boost productivity and outcomes Establish best practices for AI-assisted development including prompt design, validation, testing, governance, and human accountability Key requirements Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and/or comparable experience Knowledge of distributed systems, algorithms, NoSQL, and relational databases Advanced knowledge of AI-assisted development practices, prompts, validation, and governance Experience in software engineering and development, with design, development, and automated testing Proficiency in object-oriented design and multiple programming languages Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and iterative development Experience in automation testing and documentation (functional, performance)Experience scaling AI-enabled development across teams Experience evaluating, selecting, and implementing AI-assisted development tools with governance practices Employment eligibility to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorshipmentorship and coachingcross-functional collaborationproblem-solving with a focus on qualityAI-assisted developmentprompt design techniquesoutput validation
