Automation Commissioning Engineer
Location: Raleigh, NC (Remote with 80-100% Travel)

Seeking an Automation Commissioning Engineer with experience in substation automation, SCADA systems, and IEC 61850 environments. This role is responsible for testing, integration, and commissioning activities at utility and industrial project sites across the U.S. Candidates must be comfortable traveling extensively and supporting on-site deployments.
Key Responsibilities: Perform FAT and SAT testing for substation automation systems. Configure and validate SCADA, HMI, and RTU applications. Test and troubleshoot IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, and related communication protocols. Support protection and control system integration. Execute commissioning plans, point-to-point testing, and startup activities. Create commissioning reports and as-built documentation. Collaborate with project teams and customers during commissioning efforts.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related field.3+ years of experience commissioning substation automation systems. Strong experience with:
  • Substation AutomationIEC 61850 Protection & Control SystemsSCADA IntegrationFAT/SAT Testing
  • Relay Testing & Commissioning
  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel 80-100%, including site assignments of 3-5 months.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with MicroSCADA.Experience using OMICRON, Doble, or similar testing tools. Knowledge of PRP/HSR network architectures and automation cybersecurity standards.
