Job Description: Are you an organized, detail-oriented professional who enjoys being at the center of a busy clinical environment? The Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a Clerk III to support Equine Field Service and Farrier services within the Veterinary Medical Center. In this role, you will help keep daily operations running smoothly by working closely with veterinary clinicians, clients, students, and hospital staff. From coordinating appointments and communicating with clients to supporting billing, student education, and clinical operations, you will have an opportunity to contribute to a wide variety of activities that support equine patient care and the educational mission of the College of Veterinary Medicine.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PMWhat You'll DoCoordinate routine, recheck, and urgent appointments while balancing clinician availability, travel routes, service locations, and daily workflow. Serve as a key point of contact for clients by phone, email, and service messages, providing appointment information, schedule changes, discharge instructions, follow-up needs, and other service-related communication. Support accurate and timely billing by entering and reviewing charges, identifying missing or unclear charges, resolving discrepancies, preparing and distributing invoices, and assisting clients with billing questions. Maintain accurate patient and client records, account information, regulatory documentation, and other operational records. Coordinate supplies, inventory, equipment records, student employees, standard operating procedures, and other resources needed to support daily operations. Assist with clinical support activities such as sample submissions, pharmacy orders, patient callbacks, and other tasks as directed by clinicians. Support fourth-year veterinary student rotations, clinical courses, patient coordination, and educational materials. Assist with client outreach and research activities conducted by departmental faculty and staff. Maintain confidentiality and follow applicable hospital, university, legal, payment, and safety policies

Preferred Qualifications: Experience providing administrative support, preferably in a veterinary or medical clinical setting. Experience coordinating appointments, schedules, or service logistics. Experience with billing, invoicing, or financial account reconciliation. Experience providing client or customer service in a professional setting. Experience supporting veterinary education, student programs, or clinical training. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
