Software Application Engineer (C++/Qt) – Surgical Robotics Contract | Hybrid (3–4 Days Onsite)
About the Opportunity: We are seeking an experienced Application Software Engineer to contribute to the development of advanced software for a robotic-assisted surgery platform. This is a hands-on role for an engineer who can quickly ramp up within an established team and independently design and deliver production-ready software. You'll work on complex applications used in operating room environments where reliability, performance, and usability are critical.
What You'll Do:
  • Design, develop, and maintain complex application software using C++Quickly learn the existing architecture, codebase, and development workflows
  • Independently develop software components according to defined requirements and coding standards
  • Participate in code reviews, unit and component testing, code analysis, and defect resolution
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and subject matter experts throughout the development lifecycle
  • Troubleshoot software issues and contribute to improvements in performance and reliability
  • Create technical documentation in accordance with R&D and Quality Management System procedures
  • Communicate technical decisions, progress, risks, and issues clearly across the team
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field 4+ years of professional software development experience
  • Strong C++ and object-oriented programming skills in a production environment
  • Experience designing and developing application-level software within an established architecture
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Qt/QML, Linux, and/or DockerFull SDLC and Agile development experience, including unit testing, code coverage, CI/CD, static/dynamic analysis, and defect tracking
  • Knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, linear algebra, computational geometry, or computer graphics
  • Experience with medical imaging, image processing, computer vision, robotics, or algorithm development
  • Experience developing software in a medical device, biomedical, or other regulated environment
  • Contract or consulting experience with a demonstrated ability to join established teams and contribute quickly
