Composite Technician A - 3rd Shift Jobs

Job Description: L3Harris is seeking a Composite Manufacturing Technician to work at our state-of-the-art Advanced Manufacturing Facility (AMF) in Toney, AL, which is our inert manufacturing facility for fabrication and assembly of small, medium, and large case composite rocket motor hardware.

Essential functions include: Producing parts, components and final assemblies using composite fabrication, compression molding, metal fabrication, modification, checkout, re-work, quality testing, and assembly utilizing detailed work instructions, schematics, diagrams, layouts or manufacturing test development or diagnostic equipment. Preparing various components for lay-up, filament winding, cure and post cure using cured and uncured rubber materials and adhesives. Operating various machinery and shop equipment which may include but not be limited to ovens, autoclaves, manual lathes, CNC lathes, CNC milling centers, manual mills, boring mills, presses, furnaces, mixers, grinders, swages, paint booths, fume hoods and overhead cranes. Fabricating and assembling piece parts into completed sub-assembly using assembly tools. Performing vacuum bagging and related processes for fabrication and curing composite parts. Completing structural bonding operations using film adhesives, core materials, and adhesives. Building of complex layups individually and in small groups. Building, cleaning, and properly storing large tooling. Insulating mandrels and composite cases. Casting, curing and machining of sand mandrels. Facilitating and conducting OJT training of technicians as required. Working with management and supervision to meet critical deadlines. Producing development hardware to support research and development programs. Troubleshooting processes and identifying, modifying and/or escalating out of control processes and production escapes. Assisting in the development of process improvement actions within the facility. Coordinating with maintenance, supervision and/or engineers in the set-up and calibration of equipment. Participating in preventative maintenance activities. Cleaning machines, equipment, and work area according to Standard Operating Procedures. Supporting safety initiatives and adhering to 5S+1 standards.
