A dynamic opportunity is available for a licensed pharmacist to support long-term care and mail order pharmacy services during overnight shifts. This role offers a contract-to-hire arrangement with a schedule of seven nights on followed by seven nights off (9 pm to 8 am), spanning approximately 13 weeks.
Key Responsibilities:
Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications in compliance with legal requirements.
Monitor patient medication adherence and identify over-usage patterns.
Ensure prescribed medications are suitable and provide detailed patient counseling on use, potential reactions, and questions.
Maintain confidential and precise patient records and pharmacy documentation.
Offer consultative services on both prescription and non-prescription medications, including dosing, storage, side effects, and interactions.
Deliver additional patient services such as smoking cessation guidance, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
Educate patients on the proper use and handling of medical devices like glucose meters and blood pressure monitors.
Compound medications for internal and external use and prepare sterile solutions following established protocols.
Supervise pharmacy support staff, including pharmacy technicians and clerks.
Manage pharmaceutical and medical supply inventory effectively.
Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, and pharmacy interns to identify and resolve drug-related issues.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Current Texas pharmacy license is required.
Experience in long-term care and mail order pharmacy settings is strongly preferred.
Proficiency in sterile compounding is essential.
Ability to work overnight shifts as scheduled.
