Principal Account Manager, Amazon Marketplace (Brand Manager) San Diego, CA 92101 - onsite at Symphony Towers, 5 days a week
$150,000 – $200,000 base
Managing enterprise brands · Individual contributor, no direct reports
As one of the top 5 Amazon sellers in the US, Luminize runs the full growth layer for 80 to 100 consumer brands. As a Principal Account Manager you own a book of a handful of enterprisebrands as their primary strategic partner. You own the forecast, PPC strategy, catalog, and more through the quarterly business review, with our advertising, content and supply chain specialists executing alongside you.
This is a senior individual-contributor role. You will own a book of brands, not a team of people.
What you will actually own The forecast. You set it, you defend it, and you are the one explaining the variance.
The advertising strategy, executed by our advertising strategists. You set the direction and own the number; they are in the console.
The QBR.You run the room. These are S-tier clients and the expectation is that you handle them with minimal involvement from leadership.
The escalation. When something breaks across catalog, supply chain and content at once, it routes to you and the fix is yours to design.
The growth case. You find the opportunity in the account before the client asks for it.
You may currently be a…Different companies title this job differently. If one of these is yours, you are in the right place:
Account Director (Amazon or retail media agency) · Amazon Account Director · Senior Amazon Account Manager · Enterprise Account Manager, Amazon · Marketplace Account Director · Senior Marketplace Manager · Amazon Brand Manager (agency, accelerator or aggregator side) · Senior Client Partner, Ecommerce · Strategic Account Manager, Amazon · Group Account Manager · Director of Client Services (smaller agency) · Senior Growth Manager (Amazon aggregator) · Key Account Manager, Amazon Marketplace · Senior Ecommerce Account Manager
One honest filter before you spend time applying:the bar here is external client brands - brands that belonged to someone else and could have fired you - including at least one at $15M+ in annual Amazon gross sales that you personally owned.
Required At least one client brand you have personally owned at $15,000,000+ in annual Amazon gross sales. Not an aggregate portfolio figure. One account, that size, where the forecast, the ad budget and the QBR were yours.
Agency, accelerator or aggregator experience managing external client brands -companies that were someone else's and could have fired you. In-house ownership of your own employer's brands, however large, is a different job.
3 to 5 external client brands managed simultaneously at enterprise scale
Hands-on Amazon Seller Central or Vendor Central experience within the last 6 months -currently in the platform, not overseeing someone who is
Forecasting and P&L fluency: you can build the model, not just read it
The client presence to run a QBR with an executive stakeholder and own a hard conversation in the room
Able to work onsite in San Diego 5 days a week
Preferred, not required Vendor Central depth alongside Seller Central
Experience in CPG, health, wellness or beauty categories
Advertising fluency deep enough to challenge or enforce a strategist's plan
Bachelor's degree, or the equivalent in experience
About the pay We post the whole band, $150,000 to $200,000 base, and we mean all of it. Where you land is not about years on a résumé. It comes down to the size of book you can carry on day one - above all, the scale of the largest single account you have genuinely owned, and how much of it was yours rather than delegated.
Base salary, no bonus or equity.
Why this job is onsite Five days a week in the office is stricter than most of this market, and we would rather explain it than bury it.
Because we own the inventory on most of our brands, your account decisions are never yours alone - they touch what we bought, what is in stock, what the listing says and what advertising is spending. The people who do this well walk to the strategist's desk, get the answer in ninety seconds, and change the plan before the day closes.
Relocating? Relocation support is available for the right candidate, and we fly finalists in for their onsite. Raise it early and we will work it out with you rather than at the end.
Your first 90 days Your first two weeks are Trainual, our processes and meeting the specialists you will work with daily. Over the following 90 days you learn the Luminize account methodology by shadowing on live books and working real scenarios from ours. You take your first directly owned brand inside the first month or two, and ramp toward a full book of three to five.

Where this seat goes Staying here is a real answer. This is the senior individual-contributor seat in account management, and it is not a waiting room for something else. The book gets better rather than bigger - the brands other people ...
If you want people leadership, that door is opening. We are growing, and a growing account team needs managers. We are not going to promise you a team on a date we cannot name, because we would rather under-promise here than have you find out in month six. What we will tell you is that when those seats open we look inside first, and the person carrying the hardest book is usually the first conversation.
Either way, we publish leveling guidelines, so you will know what each step asks of you long before you are asked to reach for it.
