Compensation: $100K + bonus
Position Overview:
The Business Development Manager will lead efforts to identify, pursue, and secure new commercial construction opportunities. This role focuses on expanding the company’s client base through strategic relationship building and market research. The position collaborates closely with internal teams to ensure seamless transition from prospecting to project execution. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute business development strategies to generate new commercial construction opportunities and expand the company's client base.
Identify and pursue prospective clients, projects, and market opportunities through networking, referrals, industry events, research, and direct outreach.
Build and maintain strong relationships with property owners, developers, architects, engineers, brokers, property managers, construction managers, and other industry professionals.
Establish relationships early in the project lifecycle and position the company for consideration on upcoming construction and renovation projects.
Conduct client meetings, presentations, site visits, networking events, and other business development activities to promote the company's services and capabilities.
Research target accounts and market trends to identify upcoming projects, new developments, and potential areas for growth.
Qualify leads and opportunities based on project scope, timing, budget, client needs, and overall fit with the company.
Collaborate closely with estimating, project management, and leadership teams to transition qualified opportunities and support the development of proposals and bids.
Maintain accurate records of prospects, contacts, opportunities, and business development activities in the company's CRM or tracking systems.
Follow up consistently with prospects and existing clients to maintain relationships and develop repeat business and referrals.
Represent the company professionally at industry associations, networking events, trade shows, and community or business functions.
Monitor competitors, market conditions, and industry trends to identify opportunities and support the company's growth strategy.
Help develop and maintain the company's pipeline of prospective projects and clients.
Required Experience/Skills 3+ years of business development, sales, account management, or client relationship experience, preferably within commercial construction, real estate, architecture, engineering, or a related industry.
Proven ability to generate new business through networking, prospecting, referrals, and relationship development.
Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple prospects, relationships, and opportunities simultaneously.
Self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and comfortable working independently in a small-company environment.
Preferred Experience/Skills:
Established relationships or familiarity with the commercial real estate and construction community.
Strong understanding of the commercial construction/project lifecycle.
Ability to travel locally for client meetings, site visits, networking events, and industry functions.
Experience using CRM systems for tracking business development activities.
Knowledge of market trends and competitor analysis within the construction industry.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
Equivalent experience in business development or sales within the construction industry may be considered.
Continued professional development in sales, negotiation, or construction management is advantageous.
Familiarity with industry certifications or associations (e.g., NAIOP, ABC, AGC) is a plus.
Strong understanding of commercial construction terminology and processes.
