About the Opportunity: We are partnering with a growing, privately held multi-location organization to hire a Controller who will take ownership of the company’s internal accounting and financial reporting function. This is a newly created role with significant visibility and influence. The company is transitioning more of its accounting responsibilities in-house and is looking for someone who can not only manage the day-to-day financials, but also improve processes, strengthen reporting, and build a more scalable accounting structure. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys being hands-on, working closely with leadership, and creating systems rather than simply maintaining what is already in place.
What You’ll Be Responsible For:
  • Own the monthly close process and general ledger accuracy
  • Prepare consolidated and location-level financial statements
  • Manage account reconciliations, journal entries, and accounting workflows
  • Develop and maintain cash-flow forecasting
  • Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Oversee inventory, cost accounting, and margin reporting
  • Analyze labor, operating costs, and profitability trends
  • Develop shared-cost and departmental allocation methodologies
  • Provide leadership with clear financial dashboards and reporting
  • Manage banking and lender reporting
  • Partner with external tax and accounting resources as needed
  • Support financial modeling for new initiatives and capital investments
  • Evaluate existing accounting processes and recommend improvements
  • Help determine the appropriate accounting systems and tools for future growth
What We’re Looking For:
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of financial statements and general ledger accounting
  • Experience managing or heavily contributing to the monthly close process
  • Budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow management experience
  • Strong Excel and financial analysis skills
  • Experience in a multi-location or operationally complex environment
  • Ability to create and improve accounting processes
  • Comfortable being hands-on with the accounting details
  • Strong communication skills with both financial and non-financial stakeholders
  • Analytical, curious, and willing to challenge inconsistencies
Candidates may currently hold titles such as Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, Senior Accounting Manager, Finance Manager, or Director of Finance.
Preferred Background: Experience in one or more of the following would be especially valuable:
  • Multi-location businesses
  • Hospitality or service-based environments
  • Food & beverage
  • DistributionInventory-heavy organizations
  • Cost accounting
  • Operational finance
  • Financial reporting by location or business unit
  • Building or improving internal accounting processes
What Success Looks Like:
  • In the first several months, the Controller will take ownership of the accounting environment, assess current processes, improve the monthly close, and create a more consistent reporting package for leadership.
  • Longer term, this person will help strengthen profitability reporting, inventory and cost controls, forecasting, and financial visibility across the organization.

Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary: $95,000–$115,000, depending on experience
