About the role

The Senior Director of Accounts Payable is responsible for leading and overseeing the company’s global accounts payable function for a $4B organization. This role ensures the timely and accurate processing of vendor payments, maintains strong internal controls, and drives operational excellence across the procure-to-pay process. The Senior Director will lead a high-performing team, partner closely with Finance, Procurement, and Treasury, and implement process improvements and automation to scale the AP function as the business grows.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy: Provide strategic leadership for the Accounts Payable function, managing a team responsible for high-volume invoice processing and vendor payments. Develop and implement scalable processes to support a multi-billion-dollar organization. Establish departmental goals, KPIs, and performance metrics to drive efficiency and accuracy.
Operations Management: Oversee the end-to-end accounts payable process including invoice intake, three-way matching, payment processing, and vendor management. Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments in compliance with company policies. Manage vendor payment terms, payment runs, and cash management coordination with Treasury. Maintain strong relationships with key vendors and resolve escalated issues.
Process Improvement & Automation: Identify and implement automation and system improvements within the procure-to-pay cycle. Lead initiatives to improve invoice processing efficiency, reduce cycle times, and enhance data accuracy. Partner with IT and Finance leadership to optimize ERP and AP automation platforms.
Compliance & Controls: Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with SOX requirements and company policies. Partner with internal and external auditors during financial and operational audits. Ensure proper documentation and adherence to accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Procurement, Treasury, Accounting, and FP&A to align AP operations with broader financial strategies. Support month-end and year-end close processes related to accounts payable. Provide reporting and insights on payables, cash flow impacts, and vendor trends.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required 10+ years of progressive Accounts Payable or Finance leadership experience
  • Experience managing large-scale AP operations within a complex or high-growth organization
  • Experience in large ERP environments (SAP, Oracle, Workday, etc.)Strong knowledge of internal controls, SOX compliance, and procure-to-pay processes
  • Proven experience leading teams and implementing process improvements or automation
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in a publicly traded or large multi-entity organizationCPA or other relevant certification
  • Experience leading global or shared services AP teams
  • Experience with AP automation platforms (Coupa, Ariba, Tipalti, etc.)Leadership Competencies

Compensation Package: $185,000 - $220,000 / year base salary + bonus eligibility + RSU eligibility This is an estimated range based on the circumstances at the time of posting, however, may change based on a combination of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, education, market factors, geographical location, budget, and demand Benefits We offer a comprehensive benefits plan including:
