About the role
For our client, we are seeking a California State Policy Manager to join the team of a leader in the Manufacturing & Automotive space. This role will lead state-level policy engagement in California, with a strong focus on Sacramento and key local jurisdictions in Northern California. The position will help shape external strategy, guide stakeholder outreach, and translate legislative and political developments into actionable recommendations for internal teams. It is well suited for a seasoned policy professional who can operate in complex public affairs environments and support business objectives through thoughtful advocacy and relationship management. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available. Compensation: $177,000 – $218,000 annually.
Responsibilities:
Lead state advocacy efforts in Sacramento to support operational flexibility and business priorities
Build and maintain relationships with local government officials in Solano, Yolo, and Napa counties
Assess political and legislative landscapes and advise on stakeholder engagement strategies
Translate legislative developments into clear guidance for internal teams
Manage advocacy operations and represent the organization in industry forums
Qualifications:
7-10 years of experience in public policy or legislative advocacy in California
Strong engagement history with Sacramento, including lobbying and policy negotiation
Familiarity with local government dynamics, particularly in Northern California
Proven strategic problem-solver in high-stakes political settings
Excellent organizational skills and teamwork capabilities
