The Opportunity:
Lucas James Talent Partners is partnering with a rapidly growing AI technology company to identify a Head of Private Equity to build and lead its Private Equity go-to-market strategy. Our client develops practical, outcome-driven AI solutions that integrate directly into existing business systems and workflows to create measurable operational and revenue impact across industries including manufacturing, distribution, supply chain, logistics, field services, pharma, and healthcare. Private Equity has emerged as an important growth channel for the business, and this newly created leadership role will have the opportunity to build and scale that strategy from the ground up. This is not a traditional account management role or an established sales territory. We are looking for someone who understands the PE ecosystem, has credibility with senior PE leaders, and knows how to create demand where it may not already exist.
What You'll Do:
Own and develop the overall Private Equity go-to-market strategy. Identify and prioritize PE sponsors and develop strategies for engaging those firms. Build relationships with Operating Partners, Value Creation teams, Portfolio Operations leaders, Deal Teams, Partners, and other senior PE stakeholders. Create new relationships and demand within PE firms rather than relying on established or inbound opportunities. Identify opportunities across PE portfolios where AI can drive measurable operational or revenue impact. Turn sponsor relationships into introductions and commercial opportunities across portfolio companies. Partner closely with sales leadership and Account Executives to develop strategy and move opportunities toward close. Develop creative approaches to PE engagement through executive networking, industry events, partnerships, referrals, and thought leadership. Represent the organization at relevant Private Equity conferences and industry events. Ultimately drive meaningful PE-influenced revenue growth.
What We're Looking For:
Significant experience selling technology, products, solutions, or services into Private Equity firms. A strong existing network within the PE ecosystem, particularly among Operating Partners, Value Creation leaders, Portfolio Operations teams, and senior decision-makers. Demonstrated success creating new business and demand, not simply managing established PE relationships or inbound opportunities. Experience building a new market, channel, practice, territory, or go-to-market motion from the ground up. Proven business development and sales success with the ability to turn relationships into measurable revenue. Strong understanding of how PE firms operate and influence strategy and operations across portfolio companies. Ability to sell an emerging or discretionary solution by creating a compelling business case. Executive presence and the ability to communicate complex technology solutions with senior leaders. An entrepreneurial mindset and comfort operating without a predefined playbook. AI experience is helpful, but not required.
Salary: Base: $250,000-$300,000 + approx. $150,000 in additional inentives
What Success Looks Like:
Success will be measured less by a traditional individual sales quota and more by your ability to establish the company as a meaningful partner within the Private Equity ecosystem and generate measurable revenue through those relationships. The right person will know how to identify the right sponsors, open doors, create demand, build trusted relationships, and translate those relationships into opportunities across multiple portfolio companies. This is an opportunity for an experienced PE business development leader who wants the autonomy to build something significant rather than inherit an established playbook.
